Jeff spent many enjoyable years in universities, earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Davis, and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Stanford University.
In over 25 years of working in industry, his interest in mathematical modeling, optimization, and planning under uncertainty led to work in a variety of fields, including quantitative finance, insurance, demand forecasting, online advertising, click-fraud detection, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Analysis, LiDAR, mapping, high precision GPS, and self-driving cars. This work resulted in the granting of over a dozen patents.
He enjoyed working as a teaching assistant in universities and continued to tutor high school and university students.
